Given some time with my sister’s Wacom tablet, I end up with this:

| If you are interested in reading something awesome, I highly recommend the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Book 5 (“Scott Pilgrim vs. The Universe”) just came out*, and though I got home late last night when I saw that Amazon pre-ordered package waiting for me in my room, I knew I’d be reading the whole darn thing that night. I ripped open the package and -gasp!- this volume was unlike any of the previous ones. It was, well, shiny. The cover has this iridescent metallic finish on it, and that, combined with O’Malley’s art (much of which has been my laptop wallpaper over the past few years), made me sort of want to frame it. To be sure, the Scott Pilgrim books are all easy reads, but these graphic novels are so funny each volume leaves you pining for the next one. The characters are fun and feel like friends you might have, the plot is ridiculous and yet somehow believable due to the lovableness of the characters, and the geeky gamer and music nerd jokes are plentiful. I won’t give up any of the plot, but if that last sentence appealed to you, I would recommend the series. |
*Technically, this book comes out February 18th, but if your preorder things on Amazon (like moi) sometimes you get them a few days early and get to write a preview in your blog. Win!
Well, I can barely move… so that kind of keeps me from biking. I’ve got some high-tech cyborg replacement skin over my knee, and I think I did twist my ankle. My knee is periodically leaking… and I’m pretty sure that’s not good. Luckily, I generally heal like Wolverine. Harmony said all I have in common with Wolverine is stubbornness, but I like to think it’s more. I stayed home yesterday, aside from a necessary run to Fred Meyer for more hydrogen peroxide, but managed to limp in to work today. I’m still eager to bike again as soon as possible.
It’s also a bummer because I was supposed to start climbing this week forward on Tuesday and Thursday mornings early (like 6:30am early) at the Stone Gardens Gym in Ballard with Harmony. But, seeing as I barely get up the stairs, I doubt I’ll be Spider-Man-ing up any walls soon.
Wow, two Marvel Comics references in one post. Nice.
